 Eligibility Details-

The candidate should meet the following eligibility criteria for the IISc Centre for Brain Research CBR admission 2020 in Ph.D Course

Nationality-

candidate must be either-

1.  a citizen of India.
2.  a subject of Nepal
3.  a subject of Bhutan.
4.  a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
5.  a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar),Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
6. Foreign Students are also eligible for admission but under foreign quota seats.

Educational Qualification

• Candidates with a  Master’s degree in Microbiology/Botany/Zoology /Chemistry/Biotechnology/Veterinary Science/ Pharmacy/ Biostatistics  from a recognized University in India.
• Four year degree candidates from branch of Medicine/ Engineering/ Technology or any other branch are also eligible to apply.

Fellowship Required-

The candidates should have preferably qualified in any one of the following National Entrance tests in the last 2 years from the last date of submission of online application form, leading to the award of a fellowship tenable at CBR.The fellowship must be valid till the time of joining .

• Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF
• ICMR – JRF
•  ICMR- SRF
•  DBT – JRF
• UGC-JRF
• UGC-SRF
• NBHM screening test
•  GATE 
• INSPIRE fellowship
•  GPAT 

The candidates with any one of the above fellowship will be called for an interview 

All candidates who do not possess any fellowship may not be preferred over the candidates with fellowship  .Candidates qualifying in the interview will be shortlisted for Admission 2020.

Age Limit–as on 01/07/2020

• Minimum      : 18 Years
• Maximum     : Not Applicable
• As per the Govt. of India rule for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates. upper age limit relaxable by 5 years.

• Pay the Examination Fee through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.

CBR is a kind of institute that promotes interdisciplinary research in the basic and clinical neuroscience to understand disorders of the aging brain using advanced genetic, biochemical, neuroimaging and neurocognitive investigation approach. These studies are dealt with research on the  model systems to identify the molecular underpinnings of age-related brain disorders. Whole genome sequencing (WGS),Genome wide association studies (GWAS)  and advanced computational approaches are being employed to identify common, low frequency, rare, single nucleotide polymorphisms, and also the structural genetic variations that could contribute to healthy aging and/or neurological disorders. The brain imaging investigations are usually being conducted to identify structural, vascular, and metabolic alterations in aging brain using the advanced brain imaging methods at 3 Tesla state-of-the-art human MRI scanner.

About The CBR Test Procedure :

• Selection of Ph.D. scholars will be based on an online Interview.
• Candidates with any one of the following fellowship or any other equivalent fellowship exam will be called for an interview before the selection committee which will be notified after deadline of application form.
• Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF
• ICMR – JRF
•  ICMR- SRF
•  DBT – JRF
• UGC-JRF
• UGC-SRF
• NBHM screening test
•  GATE 
• INSPIRE fellowship
•  GPAT 

The candidates will be screened by a committee at CBR based primarily on the following factors:
i. Educational background
ii. Skills acquired
iii. Performance at national level entrance examinations
iv. Other relevant experience

At the time of Admission Bring the original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies of all the documents-

• On the Admission date bring duly filled-in Admission Form  and three recent passport size (5 cm x 4 cm) photographs.
• Arrange original documents and their self-attested photocopies in the following order:

1. IISc. CBR Application 
2. Class 10th Certificate.
3. Educational Certificate/Degree and Mark-sheet.
4. Character Certificate from the Institute last attended (If available).
5. SC/ST Certificate (wherever applicable).
6. A person with Disability (PwD) Certificate .
7. OBC Certificate If applicable
8. Gap Year Undertaking (wherever applicable) .

• One can apply between 19/08/2020 to 04/09/2020 .
• Please read the notification before applying the CBR form .
• Then check the eligibility,documents required like  –
• Class X Certificate/Mark-sheet(DOB proof)
• Class XII Mark-sheet
• Class XII Certificate
• Graduation Mark-sheet
• Graduation Degree
• Masters Mark-sheet (If available)
• Masters Degree(If available)
• Go to the “Apply Online” link and register then fill  the application form.
• Print the application form on A4 size paper  and keep the same for future reference.
